A unified logo and billboard style will be adopted to promote the five brands and the provinces will work together on the design of the promotion materials. Besides mutual promotion between these provinces, they will also exchange links on their tourism web portals.
According to the ministry, the new agreement, which is based on the free-trade agreement signed in 2005, will replace a similar one signed in 1996, marking the advancement of commercial relationship between the two nations. The agreement will allow airlines from both countries to fly to any destination in the partner country, and also China Travel to transfer at any location. The China Travel number of weekly flights is limited, and domestic flights can only be managed by domestic airlines.
This is reportedly the first time that the Japanese government department has chosen a Chinese website for large-scale promotion. Earlier this year, Japan announced that individual visits to the country will be available for residents of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong from July 2009. The current number of 250,000 Chinese tourists a year visiting Japan is expected China Travel to increase one million each year.
